What we collect, which is almost nothing.

What we collect automatically

Nothing that identifies you. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no advertising or social media pixel, and no cookie set by The Learning Tree. We cannot see who you are, which pages you read, or how long you stayed.

What we collect when you use a form

Two forms on this site send information to the school.

Schedule a Visit asks for your name, email address, phone number, the language you would prefer we use, the grade your child would be entering, the school year, the Tuesday you would like to come, what you would most like to see while you are here, and anything you add in the notes box.

Contact asks for your name, email address, phone number, what your message is about, and the message itself.

Neither form asks for your child’s name, age or date of birth, and the program behind them will not accept those even if something else tries to send them. A grade and a school year are enough to have the conversation.

How it reaches us

When you press send, the form posts what you typed to a small program of ours running on Cloudflare. That program writes your message into the system the school office opens to read and answer messages, and does nothing else with it. If that fails, the page says so and gives you the phone number rather than pretending your message arrived.

Nothing passes through an advertising network, a form builder or a marketing service. There is no company in the middle that is not named further down this page.

If your message is urgent, telephone the school rather than using this form. A form is read when somebody next opens it; a phone is answered by a person between 7:30 and 4:00.

What we do with it

We read it and reply. Visit requests go to whoever handles admissions; general messages go to the school office. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or trade your information. We do not share it with anyone outside the school except where the law requires it.

Who can see it. The stored copy is readable by the small number of school staff who have been given an account for it, and by the developer who maintains this website. Nobody else.

How long we keep it. Until you ask us to delete it. We keep inquiries because a family who writes in March may enroll in September, and because the school needs to be able to show what it was asked and what it answered. We are deliberately not promising you a number of years: an automatic deletion that nobody remembers to run is a worse policy than an honest one. Ask us and it goes.

Information about children

This is a school, so this matters more than usual.

The forms. They ask nothing about a child except the grade they would be entering. No name, no age, no date of birth. That was a deliberate decision: the school does not need any of it to book a visit, so this website does not collect it. We ask that children do not fill in forms on this site themselves.

Photographs. This website shows photographs of our students, published with the permission of their families. If you are a parent or guardian and you want a photograph of your child taken down, write to admin@TLTStemArts.org and we will remove it. You do not have to give a reason.

School records. Report cards, assessments, attendance and anything else in a child’s file are not on this website and never travel through it. Those are handled by the school directly.

Other companies involved

We use as few as we can. These are all of them.

Cloudflare hosts this site, delivers it to your browser, and runs the small program that receives the forms. Like any host, their servers see the internet address your browser connects from. When you submit a form we use that address for about a minute, to count how many submissions have come from it, so that nobody can flood the school with automated messages. It is not saved alongside your message and it is not kept after that minute.

Sanity holds the words and photographs that make up this website, and the copy of every message sent through a form. It is what the office opens to read what you wrote. They store it on our behalf and do not use it for anything of their own.

Google is contacted by your browser in two places without you clicking anything. On the home and Student Work pages, the picture on each film card loads from YouTube’s image servers. On the Contact page, the map is a frame served by Google Maps. In both cases your browser talks to Google directly, so Google can see your internet address and may set its own cookies, under Google’s privacy policy rather than ours. The school’s address is also written out as plain text on the Contact page, so you never need to use the map.

YouTube receives your visit only if you click a film, which opens in a new tab. Nothing plays inside this site.

Social networks. The Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok links in the footer are ordinary links. Nothing from those companies loads on our pages.

What this site does not do

• No accounts, no logins, no passwords
• No payments taken on this site
• No cookies set by us, and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to
• No chat widget, no advertising, no retargeting
• No artificial intelligence reading, scoring or making decisions about anything you send us

Asking us to correct or delete something

Write to admin@TLTStemArts.org or call (347) 732-4167 and tell us what you want corrected or removed. That includes a message you sent us and the copy we stored of it, and photographs of your child on this website. You do not have to give a reason, and we are not going to ask you for one.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. When the forms stopped opening your own email program and started posting to us instead, this page was rewritten in the same change rather than left describing the old behaviour. We intend to keep doing it that way.
